I'm contemplating a change of career to analytics and have spent the last 2 weeks browsing "entry level" tech job postings around the country and have arrived at this conclusion:
There is no "tech shortage". Just a shortage of people with a minimum of 2-3 years of experience.
If there was an actual shortage of tech skilled people, then most employers would be willing to train and apprentice people that were straight from coding boot camps or college and while this does exist (start-ups located in mid-sized cities in particular) you just don't see that on a large basis.
The market just doesn't reflect an actual shortage.
Thoughts?
