[discussion] Why is it that the hinges on convertible laptops are looser compared to traditional clamshell laptops?

I own a Yoga 730 and my friend owns a Hp Spectre 15, Both the hinges are much looser compared to the Surface Laptop and the Dell XPS 15 which many other people at my work use. Isn't this counterintuitive to the fact that the hinges on convertibles should be tighter since they'll be used in tent/stand mode? This is most annoying when I'm trying to use a stylus on my Yoga's screen in stand mode where the screen wobble is almost too much for anyone to think it's appropriate, especially when you factor in the jabbing and poking from fingers and pens. Why don't OEMs just make the hinges stiffer, like that of the Macbook pro? Maybe it's just me though, but yeah, title question feedback greatly appreciated!
