Certification alongside formal education?

Hello,

I am an A-Level CompSc student in the UK and I’m looking to get into the cybersecurity field when leaving sixth form. I’m currently working full time and balancing my education alongside.

I’m really invested in cyber security and I love reading around the subject, playing with tools and learning as much as I can. I want to put my best foot forward when entering the job market and I think achieving a certification would be the best option whether it’s security+, A+ or even a CCNA.

In computer science I am ahead of most students and I use my time to brush up on topics and go deep into rabbit holes that interest me. Of course, I’m not great and there is still loads I don’t know. How many hours would I need to dedicate a week to achieve a certification and is it a good idea to go out into the job market with just an A-Level. I would love to here some paths that people from the UK took to get into cyber security.

Thanks!

TL;DR: How many hours does a certification take to study per week and is it worth doing alongside work and formal education
