How long will Keyboards exist?

I decided to post this here, and not in Mechanical Keyboards because this might be a bummer post and also the answer pertains to technology.

A few months ago I decided I wanted to be more proeficient in Windows and MSO which led me to the basic fact that being proefficient with the keyboard was the key; The keyboard is THE input by excellence, THE tool to interact with the system And as a former musician I can safely say it feel more like an instrument than a tool, Just like you wouldn't call a guitar a tool to make music...

I have practiced to the point that I need not see the keyboard at all, I used to be the guy that wrote with two fingers, and every word I started I looked at the keyboard to search for the initial letter so I wouldn't mess up the rest, now I use all of my fingers for writing... And not to brag, but I also do this in spanish which is much much harder than english due to ortography.

My speed has peaked up quite a lot, in free writing( top of my head) I can go all up to 100 WPM; which is crazy. And I love it! Practicing actually got me into enjoy custom made mechanical keyboards, which is simply a beautiful expression of creativity with a lot of wholesomeness(shout out to r/MechanicalKeyboards. Understanding your keyboard upside down changes your perspective a bit and how you feel about learning new stuff, specially if they are computer related. I guess what I am trying to say is that I have grown quite fond of typing.

I was reading a book titled "1984" and there you can see the stupidity of humanity exploited in favor of a ruling system, it is kind of scary how vulnerable we all are and how we actually are turning a bit like that. This book is a retrofuturic art, it was written in the 40's and portrayed 1984 as the future. They used a device named "speakwrite"; Which, you guessed, it is used to speak so it writes whatever message you want to send.

Technology focus on the accesability and easy use of it; Take for example hand writting, even though we are still learning it in schools and it is promoted as primarily skill in early school years, we actually don't use it that much in jobs that requires you to handle bundles of information; To top that, we already have a lot of voice writing tech it is quite cheap. Will handwritting cease to exist at some point in advanced countries? Will the keyboard suffer the same fate?

The avarage human speaks about twice faster than the avarage human types or handwrites. With practice you can actually type faster than you can actually speak... but it takes Micheal Phelps's discipline to do so, it IS doable, but hardly someone you know will focus that much.

Now that I have written my thoughts, to me it is logical that keyboard will disappear sometime in the future, just like Analog music instruments have mostly give way to digital tools in the mainstream, "SpeakWrites" will be eventually be THE input by excellence. Which leads me to the conclusion, I will not only enjoy typing but also appreciate using a keyboard; There is some beauty to play a guitar and a piano, just like there is beauty in writing with a keyboard.

Thanks for reading me.
