Human Wildlife Conflict Tech Challenge

First post to r/tech, but I just have to share this. Wildlabs.net and WWF just launched their HWC Tech Challenge. There is quite some information on the webpage but let me summarize it.

Design a 'early detection system' for conflict wildlife. There are two scenarios:

  • Detection elephants in Assam, India.
  • Detection carnivores (Polar Bears, Tigers).

The system should be easy to setup by locals, locally sourced, climate proof, low maintenance and easy scalable. Besides that, because of the sensitivity of the location data (poachers do like locations of tigers). It should be secure.

How would you do it? ;)
