In this day and age the internet is pretty much apart of the every day life, just as cars and cellphones. The problem with that though is the monopolies that have become grossly in control. These monopolies, in there respective industries, include; Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft/Apple, and Google. Now we are seeing the affects of the ISP monopoly in the US, Comcast... As an American who now lives in New Zealand, where in the beginning there was only 2 main ISP providers (Vodafone and Telecom), over time there have been more competitors in which to choose from. We must strive to prevent these monopolies from forming and gaining exclusive access to our data/usage. Facebook is an extremely dangerous example... 2 billion users, not to say that number is accurate with the amount of fake accounts on the site, but still even having 1 billion people uploading their lives onto a site which mines every last bit of information about them is horrifying to say the least. The block-chain is a wonderful first step into the decentralized future, but we need to push for more decentralized platforms and give the power back to the people, not the behemoths. I am not saying that block-chain is the 100% answer to everything, but the ideology behind decentralizing is the true answer.
For the tl;dr people - Monopolies are bad, decentralization is good.
