This whole post will basically just be me ranting. If you like MS you probably won't like it, but I'm sure you'll find at least a couple things in here to agree with.
I basically just don't like Microsoft's whole product strategy in the Windows 10 era. Like, sure, it's not the UI disaster 8 was, but there are all these 'little things' that are lame about it, and it's hard to understand why the company did them.
First, what's with the whole Photos app? How is it different from film and TV? Why couldn't the whole Photos/film/TV multimedia experience have been handled by just a better version of Windows Media Player that included some photo and iTunes-like buying features? And why did they include WMP, but only in a ridiculous form that's not updated at all from win 7 and has an aesthetic that does not match the operating system? Why not just create a new WMP that's actually better, has all the features of film/TV, and a single app for camera and photos? That takes you from 3 apps to 2 without losing anything.
Or the whole windows movie maker fiasco. Why would you just get rid of one of your company's most functional and non-stress-causing apps ever? And this story remix thing that's set to replace it, it looks super risky, I could imagine a scenario where the little AI experiment was by far the biggest focus of developers' attention and the actual manual editor is left crippled. I just want free cut and paste editing for windows, is that so much to ask.
As a last point I'll give credit where it's due: The Office Suite is still the best, not a question.
