As someone passionate about consumer electronics, I can't explain how disappointing it is when you look to see what kind of phone someone has and its an iphone

Like, when I see someone has a phone out or a phone on their desk, I always look to see what it is. See if its uncommon. See if I recognize the model. "Ooh, is that a pixel 2 or a pixel 3? The bezel is slightly curved so it can't be a pixel 2. Maybe its a pixel 1? no it has front facing speakers. Interesting".

Or "woah that definitely is not a phone sold by major U.S. carriers, is that a Xiaomi? Which one? It slides so it has to be the Mi Mix 3.

"did that person just use an under the display finger print reader? Well its not a Samsung so it must be the oneplus 6 T".

Etc etc. And then you look.... and its an iPhone. Its so goddamn boring that roughly half of all the smartphones I see are the same 2 designs of iphones. But its better than it was 2 years ago when it was always the same ONE design of iPhone. Sigh.
