Is there already some kind favoritism going on with what is allowed to load fast and what isn't? Or does Netflix have a far better transfer algorithm or whatever than other services?

Why do major streaming video services on Roku like Netflix, Hulu, PBS Passport, CBS All Access, etc., load and play fine, but less popular third-party channels load slowly or not at all?

And even more to the point, why can I watch Netflix all day without a glitch on my 0.6 Megabits-per-second rural line-of-site internet, while at the same time my browser struggles to load a Youtube video, my email, and sometimes even Google search results. A 1 MB download takes hours, and fails MANY times and has to be restarted, but I can binge watch six seasons of Downton Abbey just fine.

Is there already some kind favoritism going on with what is allowed to load fast and what isn't? Or does Netflix (for example) have a far better transfer algorithm or whatever than other services?
