Using POP mail protocol - why? How do you use it?

For the past 10 years probably, I'm using IMAP protocol for my mails which allows me to have my mails synced up between my dekstop computer, laptop and a smartphone.

If I want to read something, or even change read/unread status or a folder - I can do it on a single device and it will be done on all devices as well. And even in the event that I'm on some other computer that is not my own, I can simply login into my webmail client and everything will be there.

So, it got me thinking - in this day and age when everyone has multiple devices, mobile data is cheap etc., is there really a need for using POP protocol?

I don't see a single positive thing compared to IMAP - mails are downloaded to a single device, prone to being not backed up etc. I can't imagine the flow where I get email on a smartphone, then go to my laptop and that mail is not there...

Are you still using POP? If so - how does your flow look like? How are you managing POP over several devices?
