Apple ID

Hi, Sorry if this is the wrong place for this question, but I’m so confused as to what to do!

I want to set up a new Apple ID so that all my devices are synced together, as I don’t know my current password, like at all, and the password we thought it was is apparently wrong so nothing is really signed in. So my question is, if I set up a new Apple ID will I loose any of the apps I downloaded? Not purchased, downloaded such as Facebook, messenger, Instagram and the like? I’ve read that if you’ve purchased apps you’ll have to log in with the old Apple ID, and this isn’t something I can do obviously
