Any clue on how small businesses and startups manage cyberattacks?

I noticed that a lot of cyberattacks target small businesses and startups. Owning an E-store myself where I sell most of my products online through my own website, I have a lot of credible customer data in my database. With news circulating about cyberattacks targeted to more small-sized industries, I am a bit worried about my website being exploited myself and data getting leaked.

So, my question is what are the possible ways that small enterprises or business owners do in case of protecting themselves against cyberattacks in the future?
