Some thoughts on digital food industry.

We all know that in the last years the food industry became a very large business (TV shows, super famous cooks, books, blogs and recipe websites).

I was thinking to open a website with recipes (mostly about Italian food), but actually I found out that there is already an incredible number of websites that provide recipes and explain how to cook step by step. This means that, it will be very difficult to get traction and views because food lovers will for sure prefer the more "trusted" websites.

So, I was wondering if it may be possible to innovate this concept of "website providing recipes". What can I do to differentiate from all those websites already existing? Any idea or hint? Or what can a website that already has 1000s of recipes do to innovate its business and remain sustainable in the years to come?

For example, I've been thinking to create some online courses rather than simple recipes. Or I was thinking to something related to virtual reality such as simulating the cooking so that people can later do it in reality (it would be a kind of first test without the risk or wasting food). Or also something about IoT, like a refrigerator that knows what's inside and suggests you possible recipes you can cook.

Also, today everyone is going crazy about food taking pictures of dishes and sharing them on social networks. But what will happen in the next 3-5 years? Will food still be so "sexy"?

Guys, I really would like to hear what you think!
