Proposal to solve the watch battery problem

Instead of needing to constantly buy new ones, design a watch battery which works with existing watches. Integrate inductive charging into this battery. The battery should be NiMH-LSD, because they have very low self discharge (hence the LSD). Or maybe it should be one of those fancy ultra-capacitors. This might mean that I would need to charge once a week or month, but the cell inside would last even longer than a conventional NiMH/Li Ion battery would, probably for many decades. Remember, we're talking about retro-fitting this into existing watches here, not smartwatches, that is the key.

Now, sell this special battery with a charging pad that I plug into a USB port. Occasionally, I just drop the conventional watch on the pad for a night, and I'm good to go. No more buying this disposable shit, and no more paying jewelers to get them changed for me.

Why hasn't someone done this?
