Does anyone know if there is a bigger version of a touch sensor?

I'm not sure if this belongs in this sub so just tell me if it doesn't :).

A friend and I want to build those lamps that light up when the other touches it. I want to make it so that it lights up no matter where you touch the lamp and not just a button you press. Is there a way to do this without using multiple touch sensors?

Also, it would be really cool if we could make it brighter the harder you press on the lamp. So I would need a sensor that's not just a button I guess.
