Recent news about marrying essential smartphone technology with the indestructible, everlasting-battery phones of old has got me thinking.
I would love to find a phone that meets these criteria:
- Can run Google Maps, or tether 4G to a device that can (e.g. portable laptop)
- Can run Facebook Messenger, or tether
- Can stream music (e.g. from Spotify or Amazon Music), *without* tethering
- Can send/receive SMS
- Can send/receive phone calls
- Battery lasts for days
- Simple, ultra-durable hardware
The ones that I've been able to find are:
- The Punkt Phone. Can't play music though, and very expensive/hipster-y for what it is.
- KaiOS Phones. This looks like the perfect option, but recent reviews are pretty bad especially for non-Asian markets.
If anyone has any reviews or opinions on the above I'd be appreciative too.
