Has anyone had the balls to try upgrading their 2016-2018 Macbook pro SSD or RAM?

Ive been really been looking into getting a new Macbook pro. My 2012 is getting a little dated even though it works great ive had it for years. Im not a fan of the touch bar at all and the 2017 base model doesnt have it. When I buy a Macbook ive always bought the lowest spec and upgraded to Max spec and save a couple grand. I do have some experience soldering logic boards and connectors. Ive seen 2017 macbook pro's without touchbar go for 800 bucks on ebay. 8gb ram will be enough as I use my Mac for minor editing and day trading and that will be a very skilled job. These macs are selling cheap are 128gb SSD. That is a joke for any "pro" computer. Id like to upgrade it to 512gb of SSD im willing to risk breaking the motherboard to see if im able to do a repair on this machine. Has any had the balls to try it? What was your experience?

Thanks reddit.
