Wish I could hack my old Novatel Mifi hotspot and convert it into a conventional USB-to-WIFI adapter.

I don't need it anymore. I shut the service off and don't need a cellular hotspot. What I would like, is a conventional USB wireless adapter (plug into USB and connect to existing local WIFI network for connectivity.). In theory, a device like this could be reprogrammed to behave in such a manor, completely scrapping the cellular network connection and ignoring the SIM card altogether.

But even though I'm sure this thing is swimming with open source BSD and or Linux code, I'm not allowed to do something as trivial as that. There are landfills to be filled, after all!
