just looking for some nice long-lasting cables

I've been looking for a while and all the ones I find are one of those three:

1. wouldn't last long on the real world
2. doesn't look good
3. charges slow as heck

and I guess I am just looking for some advice that comes from personal use of products, and the cables I want to buy are things like type C, micro USB, HDMI 3 and things like those.

i feel like I am not the only one tired of buying new cables

TV in a freezer?

Aye guys i got a question, my company was looking to put a TV in a commercial freezer to display data but everywhere I look says that when the TV is off crystals will form and when the TV is turned on it will fry right away

My question is, if it wont work in a freezer then how do people have TV's outside in the snow? Are the outdoor TV's built that drastically different or could I just get an enclosure for the indoor TV?

PS4 data corruption and rebuilding database

PS4* Me and the boys are getting back into destiny 2 and as I'm trying to download it, boom, data is corrupted please delete the app and redownload. After a couple of tries, it still hasn't done anything. I go to youtube, find that rebuilding the database of the ps4 is supposed to help, I try it. I redownload Destiny 2 and still no luck. My friends said they supposedly had the same problem, but to fix it they just said to keep pressing resume on the download when it said the download stopped. I've been doing this for about an hour now and still no luck. I was wondering whether this is something I would have to contact sony about or if there is a more simple solution. Please help a guy out, just tryna pass the time during quarantine. :(

Hey guys so this year I'm going to do my final exams and what happens whas I need to do all over again. So preety much in school there was this pc application where you'd copied part of the screen and then copied it to word. It's not like when you go to the mouse to the written part and then copy and past the written part no its was like a print that you chose the size of it and then you could copied and full the info in the word. Need Help with CRClient.dll

very confused about this system error that just popped up on my monitor and wont go away. I tried restarting my PC but it legit wont let me. It says in the top left of the box " AdobeIPCBroker.exe - system error." and in the middle of the box it says " The code execution cannot proceed because CRCient.dlll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem" any help on this problem is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

looking for info about bluetooth.

so ive been looking through tons of websites, who unfortunatly cannot seem to explain more than elementary grade info. granted i might actually want to have basic info as well, but what these websites have been presenting is too shallow.

“bluetooth works via a radio frequency. it has an antenna and a tiny chip. its used a lot around the world.“

this is all ive gotten. i want to know more of the hardware aspects of it. how does the chip interpret signal to send out a frequency(or is this a software thing)? why does some mice use a usb reciever if theres the option of going true wireless? how does the chip function. whats it made of, and does it differ from the build you see on other chips? are these bluetooth chips similiar across different devices? what about bluetooth versions? can you even recogize them on a motherboard?

granted, i have a dead bluetooth-mouse that wont connect, and so instead of throwing it out, i wanted to mess around and open it up to see how it works. so, can anyone help me with gaining info?

PS4 Broken?

My PS4 keeps crashing. I'll be playing a game then the screen will go black like someone pulled the power chord out of the wall. I then have to unplug the power cord and plug it back in just to turn it back on. It seems to almost always crash when I'm playing a game or even at the homepage and it hit the PS button on my controller. I have dusted it out and have it in a well-ventilated area. I've also tried many different outlets and the same thing happens. some days it works then it won't. Does anyone know what's wrong?

What phone line?

Hello Everyone.

So this was back in the late 90s when dialup was still a thing . . . and Covid-19 wasn’t!

I was a trainer in the health care industry and would travel to various facilities to install a new records management system developed by SoftwareCo that would replace paper-based patient care information. In addition to installing and testing the system, the server and the workstations, I would train their care and admin staff on the software. We also offered a one-day session for the admin staff on the last day that we were onsite on how to use e-mail, and how to use a web browser (yes, you read that correctly - we were training them how to surf the web!)

As part of the pre-work, we would send a list of requirements to the facility (e.g. 4 workstations with xxx processor, yyy RAM, dedicated phone line, etc.) They needed the phone line because:

a) they were required to transmit daily statistical data to a central government agency and

b) to provide us access for remote software support.

It was up to the facility to source the hardware as we were strictly a software shop. The first step for me when starting at a new install was to meet with the person running the facility, we’ll call this person Administrator, and the care director to review the agenda for the coming week, and to inspect all of the equipment to ensure it was to spec and functional.

So, enough back story. I arrive at RealSuper Care Facility bright and early Monday morning to meet with Administrator and go over the plan. My first inkling that things might not go smoothly were the dozen or so completion certificates he had proudly displayed on his office wall for various computer courses he had taken. I don’t remember what the couses were exactly, but they were ALL along the lines of “Using the Mouse, Level 2” or “floppy disk use and storage” - something that pretty much anyone else would be embarrassed to display in public. Hmm .... okaaayyy. We discussed the schedule for the upcoming week and that part seemed ok, the training room was ready to go, yes there was the phone jack for internet, the equipment was all up to spec (barely!). Ok, good to go!

So the week starts and I quickly realize that the administrator has cheaped out and bought the most bargain-basement crap he could find. Every day of training at least two machines wouldn’t be working, so the trainees were doubling up so we could get the training done. I would stay every night until at least 10:00 pm trying to get the lame computers working. Did I say this happened every day? I should state that I was 90% trainer and 10% tech support, so probably could have sorted things out faster if I had been more knowledgeable on the hardware side, but in my defence the whiz kids back at company HQ that I was calling for help couldn’t figure it out any faster either.

Well, we had some good laughs in the training sessions, the care staff started feeling more comfortable with the concept that paper was going away, and the computers were slowly getting less buggy. So, finish up the last day of training on our product, time to prep for tomorrow’s interweb? umm, Webnet? er, Internet? training session.

Ok, Netscape browser is installed (remember Netscape?) good, email is installed, great, let’s check the dialup connection. Hmm, not working. Fiddle with the modem settings .... nope, still not working. scratches head Ok, let’s try plugging a landline phone into the jack ... hmm ... no dial tone. That’s weird. I caught Administrator just as he was about to leave for the day and explained the issue and asked if he had the contact info for the technician who installed the line. I mean, maybe there was some step that didn’t get finalized for some reason? Hopefully something quick and easy?

So I got the tech on the phone, and explained the situation. Man, did he ever laugh! He said “Yep, I installed the plug, but there is no phone line connected to it”.

You know that weird dissociative feeling you get as you realize that you have slipped into the twilight zone? That was me at that moment. It was such a bizarre thing for him to have said that I wanted to make sure that I completely understood what I was hearing.

Me: “Umm, so you installed a phone jack in the wall, but there is nothing connected to it?”

Technician: “Yep”

Me: ... long pause ... “Umm, why?”

Turns out the phone tech dude had a long, frustrating conversation with Administrator, where Administrator couldn’t be convinced that when the spec sheet said to install a phone connection that it would need a jack AND a phone line and phone number. So, the tech finally gave up and just cut a hole in the wall and slapped a phone jack in place. I saw the work order afterwards - he charged $125 for the service call! Hmm, maybe if I looked in r/maliciouscompliance I’ll find his side of the story?

Well, I was able to “borrow” their fax line for the next day and delivered the training. It was bad. Administrator would look at a website and, when I led them through various steps, he would write down exactly the steps we followed. I’m thinking “dude, they change things around on websites all the time you know. I am trying to teach concepts, not steps to follow by rote”.

... But I kept that to myself.

Some of the other staff were getting a great kick out of finding sites about “corn” .... “um, that’s not a great idea on work computers” (Facepalm)

So I finished the training, set everything up and tested it all. Success! Aaaand I’m outta here.

I am no longer with SoftwareCo, but I kept in touch and heard that this facility continued to be a nightmare.

Maybe it would’ve gone more smoothly if we had given Administrator a competition certificate? ;)

Look up a way to uninstall MalwareBytes because it doesn't uninstall the traditional way Look up the 6-step process in starting Windows 10 in safe mode with networking to maybe uninstall it there Look up why network/wifi isn't working in safe mode with networking Look up why my Android doesn't enable hot spot to use for wifi-less safe mode with networking

And then there's those useless forums that have about 20 answers of "I'm having this problem too" and one answer of "give me your exact specs and log so that everyone else feels left out." A lot of time wasted...

Help Triaging A Bug When I Stream Audio Via Bluetooth From My Phone To My Car: whenever the vehicle slows down or comes to a stop, the audio player randomly stops and starts like the stream is buffering

This one has me stumped, and if there's a better subreddit for it, please steer me to it.

I have a OnePlus 7 phone and a 2017 Ford Expedition. Every time I connect the phone via Bluetooth, the problem happens... but only when I slow down below, say, 20 mph, or come to a stop. The intermittent skipping is so bad that it is un-listen-able. But as long as I maintain speed, the streaming audio is fine.

It's not the phone, because this doesn't happen in my other vehicle. And it's not the car, because my wife's phone (Moto) streams just fine. It's some interaction between my phone and the car.

I have tried turning off speed-sensitive volume adjustment on the car, and GPS on the phone... I can't think of anything else that could respond somehow to the speed at which the vehicle and phone are moving.

Any thoughts or ideas? I'll try anything.

Anyone know of some good web page optimizer?

I have no idea where to ask this. Back in 2007 when I would use my psp to brows the web I would use a website called skweezer to cut out all of the junk on a web page and just present the bare minimum words, links and video and image frames with links too the images on it. My phone is starting to not be able to handle even google search that well so and skweezer doesn't exist anymore as what it once was so dose anyone have a clue what could do the same for me now?

Is there a Bluetooth Audio Connector to connect with standard audio jacks?

I don't know if this exists but I am in the market for a little chip, that plugs into any audio jack, and that can transmit the audio played through it to a connected Bluetooth Speaker or Headphones.

Basically a small device that turns non bluetooth things into a bluetooth device.

I would use it to play music through my Walkman and listen to it in my headphones.

All of my tech is 1080p

So I have a 1080p laptop, 1080p cellphone, a 1080p television I bought in 2012. I do all my gaming on a PS4 slim. The point is all of my tech is pre 4k. Is that a problem? NEED A COURIER SOFTWARE

I own a cargo company in Panama 🇵🇦 that works with a program called MAGAYA, which is very popular among cargo agents. But in the last year we developed a new business line that brings to Panama orders/packages that clients make in websites like Amazon, Aliexpress, Ebay, etc.

Our current problem with magaya is that the system was developed for full containers. Managing tons of small packages on the system is a problem. Other companies like ours in Panama have either developed their own systems or are still working without much help from technology.

We basically need a system that can track packages since they get to our warehouses in Miami until they arrived to our shops or clients. Aside from tracking the packages we need to have an inventory for every store. I have seen many programs that have invoicing, inventory management, CRM, different tiers, etc. But none of them adjust to our business.

We deliver packages, we don’t run a retail store.

Discreet gamer notebook?

Which do you recommend that can run the most current and heavy games like call of duty warzone, Shadow of the Tomb Raider Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and that it can also run all the games that will be released in the next 5 years.

A notebook that is not heavy and that draws a lot of attention like the alienware area 51 or g3 and that is small and discreet up to 15 inches and mainly touch screen

So far the only ones that I found touch, discreet and that are great machines are the razer blade 15 and the Razer Blade Stealth 13.

Could it be that there is no notebook like that besides the razers?

PS: it is a notebook that does not need to be the best configuration but that runs almost everything and is discreet enough for example to use it in a classroom.

I recently let someone else reset my pc, wich i later found out was unnecesary, to fix a problem. I had to install all sorts of drivers and dll files for gta san andreas to open up, and i havent tried to run Geforce NOW before my pc was reset, but i bet it would have worked. Dunno what from where was deleted, but games and programs that worked before either dont open due to errors for wich i tried all fixes and none worked, or the graphics or other stuff glitch out constantly. Had to download drivers. It might be something right under my nose i just cant find out what. Ill answer to any questions.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If it's not then you may remove the post. :)

I'm currently producing a show that's thinking of shooting our next episode via Google Hangout or something similar. Does anybody know the best way or software to record the hangout that would output the most professional looking image and audio quality?

Why the hell did my phone randomly turn off

According to a paper published Friday by Claire Hopkins, Ph.D., a professor of rhinology at King’s College London, Gobert is far from alone. “There have been a rapidly growing number of reports of a significant increase in the number of patients presenting with anosmia [loss of smell] in the absence of other symptoms,” Hopkins writes in the paper, published by UK ENT (a medical society of ear nose and throat doctors). “This has been widely shared on medical discussion boards by surgeons from all regions...”

Hopkins adds that while early warnings did not mention anosmia as a symptom of the virus, many countries are now reporting it in their patients, including South Korea, China, and Italy. In Germany, doctors are reporting than “2 in 3 confirmed cases” of COVID-19 present with anosmia.

Help with setting up WIFI extenders

So I've recently just taken over the houses tech and my step father whom has left was very tech savvy, I've got industrial performance WIFI extenders and I'm currently trying to find the software for them, I've back logged the MAC address to see what model they are and what the result brings seems to be the right thing, but when I then try to set them up no device can be found.

I'm hoping someone can help identify what WIFI extenders I have and how I can reconfig them so I have full control over extenders as they were unplugged for such a long time.

Windows 7 to Windows 10

I finally decided that was time to install Windows 10 on my Windows 7 PC. Since I got the PC, it's been using a Samsung EVO 860 128GB SSD and I decided to upgrade to a Kingston 240GB SSD and at the same time, install Windows 10 on the new SSD. For that, I got a USB flash drive and downloaded the media creation tool. After that, I plugged the new SSD, went to my computer BIO and was able to boot the USB drive, which started to install windows 10. It asked for my code key, and if I would like to keep the files or have it with no files. I clicked on "no files" and it took me to choose the drive I would like it to install windows, and I chose the new SSD. Once I clicked on it, I started to download, and once completed, gave me the message that the computer was going to restart. After the restart, the computer goes straight to a "Preparing Automatic Repair", which has 2 tabs, "troubleshoot" and "turn PC off". I am not able to continue from there and knowing that I am so close to getting the windows 10 is making me crazy.

Router help, best PS4 connection? 1 route or 2?

Im going to buy the ASUS GT-AX11000 to get a better connection into my upstairs PS4 (the router is downstares)

Will I get an even better connection if I get a 2nd upstairs router (ASUS RT-AX92U) and run an ethanet from that 2nd router into the PS4.

Or Is that overkill/wasting money/less productive? or will it be an EPIC connection?

Looking for a free time tracking software to log employee work time. Using clockify currently.

I'm using Clockify to track my employes' work times currently. It isn't the best solution. I like the wunderlist integration but will be soon shifting to Microsoft Tasks anyway. Any recommendations for an alternative to Clockify for time tracking? Something that is available on web too not just app based. Thanks in advance.

Running intel processor at 100 degree

Hello, I've got a quite capable laptop imo (well, at least it's able to run almost anything on ultra in 2020 with minimum 30fps). But my concern is the CPU temperature. In some games (NIER: automata for instance) the temperature reaches 100C and varies between 80 and 95 during the game with peaks over 95.
My question is: what may happen if I keep using CPU w/ such a temperature for, let's say, 4h/day? And if it's too high then what temperature shall I maintain (Lower ofc is better but I'm not sure if I can get less than 80 for some games even in the lowest settings due to their optimization).

P.s.: intel i7-8550U, TJ.max 100C, idle CPU temp is 43

Could browsers implement a "meta DOM" to allow undetectable changes to the DOM?

Right now, websites can detect extensions that modify the DOM, ad blockers probably being the number one target. However, if there existed a sort of top-level, abstract meta layer/DOM that the base DOM didn't know about, meta JS could be injected to modify this meta DOM. This would allow browser extensions or userscripts to affect visibility of DOM elements while the DOM itself would have no knowledge of such changes, thus being unable to detect extensions or scripts that modify it. The DOM would execute its scripts looking for modified or missing elements, but everything would appear normal.

Could this work? How difficult would it be for browsers to make such changes?

Hey reddit. I have a problem

So I found a iPhone 7 or 6 at a park. I went to see if it was alright and to return it to its owner. When I turned it on it was locked. There was about 5 to 6 adults at the park. I went around asking them if they where the owner. None of them turned out to be the owner. Long story short I went to the police station and Gabe it to them. They said it was disconnected and they couldn't do anything. I need to know if I can do anything to help. I already posted it on all socials no reply. [Solved] Import MBOX to Gmail Account – Simplest Method

Summary: Although MBOX is one of the most used file formats supported by more than 20 email clients including Mozilla Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Eudora Mail, and Opera Mail. However, importing MBOX to Gmail is still a complex task and requires technical expertise to execute. Therefore, today we have come up with this article. Here we will show you the simplest solution ever to import MBOX to Gmail. So, keep reading.

Let’s begin with a quick introduction to MBOX & Gmail

MBOX (MailBOX) is a plain-text file used to store a large number of emails on a hard drive. All the mailbox emails are saved in a string of concatenated emails, starting with “From” header, so that each email should be stored after the other. This file format was originally created for Unix systems but later used by so many emailing services including Gmail.

Google Mail or Gmail is a free email service provided by Google, which can be accessed through a smartphone or the web. It allows to send and receive emails through POP or IMAP configured accounts. Gmail provides several GBs of space for data storage, which means users don’t need to worry about not receiving emails due to exceeding the available storage space. Moreover, Gmail has the best spam detection capability due to which it works best to filter the unnecessary emails that you don’t need to read and let you focus on what actually matters.

Now, comes the main question...

How to Import MBOX to Gmail?

Since Gmail does not provide any direct option to import MBOX into Gmail account so, we have to take help from an additional email client like MS Outlook. But, importing MBOX directly to MS Outlook might lead you to permanent data loss or data mismatch issues.

Therefore, it is recommended to make your MBOX file Outlook compatible and this can be done via converting MBOX to PST (which is a native file format of Outlook). After conversion, you can simply import the resultant PST into MS Outlook.

Import MBOX file to Gmail process is categorized in two major steps:

Step 1. Convert MBOX to Outlook PST

• Download FreeViewer MBOX to PST Converter on your Windows machine and install it

• Launch the tool and click on Add File. Navigate, browse, and add the MBOX file you want to import to Gmail

Pro Tip: In case if you haven’t exported the MBOX file from your email client yet, then you can directly select the email client from the software panel and import MBOX to Gmail.

• The software will load the added MBOX and preview its content along with all the metadata and attachments

• Select all the MBOX emails you want to import to Gmail and or directly hit the Export button

• Choose PST as an export option and click on the Advanced Settings button. In case if the added MBOX is large in size, you can use its Split PST option to break the large MBOX to small parts. Also, you can use its Advance Settings option to customize the resultant PST

• All the MBOX emails will start exporting to PST file format right after this and let the process gets completed successfully

Step 2. Configure Gmail Account in Outlook

• Log in to your Gmail account and open Settings to proceed import MBOX to Gmail process

• Select Forwarding and POP/IMAP and from the IMAP Access section, enable IMAP. Click Save Changes

• Then go to www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and enable Turn On option for less secure apps

• Now, open MS Outlook and click on File >> Add Account

• Enter your Gmail account address and click Connect

• Enter Gmail account password, click Connect to fix how to import MBOX to Gmail issue

• Type your Username (Email Id) and Password. Hit the OK button

That’s it!

Your Gmail account is configured successfully in Outlook and now you can import MBOX into Gmail account.

Step 3. Import PST to Gmail

• Open Outlook and click on File >> Open & Export >> Import/Export

• Highlight Import from another program or file option and click Next

• Choose Outlook Data File (.pst) option and click Next

• Browse the .pst file converted in Step 1, select all the required options and click Next

• Select the Gmail account in which you want to import the converted PST or you can select any Gmail account folder as well to import MBOX emails directly to that folder. Click Next

• Hit the Finish button

All the MBOX emails will be imported to your Gmail account after this and the imported emails can be accessed from Gmail after this without any issue.

I work at a retirement community. I am hoping to come up with some plan or at least brainstorm how to use technology to make sure residents are able to still connect online...whether it is video chat with friends/family, playing words with friends, etc! I was hoping for some guidance. It is challenging because the residents can't really interact with anyone and all have various technology abilities (some only use email, others have large ipads and smartphones....some are clueless with technology but others are very advanced). I am hoping we have the financial resources to get tablets for each resident and to set them up and make it as simple as possible. In general, whatever plan I do come up with to present to upper management has to be extremely simple for the residents and can't come with an increased risk of contact with them. Any ideas? What is the simplest video chat software? Snapchat? Facebook facetime? I was considering Zoom. My other job is in an IT department and I have done a lot of training with it. There is definitely an advantage to Zoom because I could potentially provide remote support. Idk. I'm just looking for some ideas/guidance/discussion of any innovation you may have. I just want to explore the possibility of aiding them to connect with family/friends in isolation. I've always helped residents with technology in general so I have a strong communication basis with them. This is an opportunity to explore the use of technology I think. I can't find anything online about any sort of contingency plan others have created. My hopes is I could make it accessible and useful for the majority of the world if they we're to find it helpful in connecting with their vulnerable loved ones. I would love and appreciate any thoughts/ideas/dialogue. Bless you all.

M.2 SSD Clone for upgrade failed

Currently have 128GB M.2 Nvme Pcie in my laptop and it’s running out of space.

Got a 1 TB WD Black nvme pcie ssd - with a usb adapter for cloning.

Cloned it with partition wizard but now my computer won’t boot.

Obviously plugging in my old ssd into the laptop brings everything back to normal but theres no space on it.

Recommendations on how to do this clone effectively?

Ctrl key kinda not working

Ok so basically, for approximately a month now, my Ctrl key just decides to stop working if I stop using it for too long. Pressing CTRL + Fn + AltGr solves it for a few minutes, and yes, both the Ctrl keys started having this problem at the same time.

I already updated my keyboard drivers, and I've got a Lenovo Ideapad 700 laptop.

Anyone knows what causes this, I've already searched around the internet and couldn't find a permanent fix

I have the last version of the AirPort Extreme router, I was wondering if it was still good (was like $200 when purchased) or would it be worth it to upgrade to the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900? voice mod input device in use problem (or microphone problem)

i have voice mod installed on my pc and it worked fine

​

but then a new windows 10 update came and ruined the sound settings with first being the audio speaker not set i fixed that quickly

​

but when i tried to fix voicemod too it started up like i just freshley installed it and when ever i pick the microphone i want to use it say that the device is in use

chose another microphone or close the application that is using the microphone......ok.

so i closed discord didnt work

closed steam chat nope

its still the same thing

also i have notticed that when i close the chose your input it says
