Do photonic technologies provide the best hope in the fight against the Coronavirus and future pandemic outbreaks?

Hi all, I am currently researching for my end of year paper, the ways modern technologies can fight virus outbreaks with a particular focus on the current Covid-19. I discovered photonics and most resources claim that a)it is the new era tech which will replace electronics b)it will be a solution to stop and eviscerate existing and future pandemics

My question is: Are they full of crap or should I proceed with my thesis.
