What’s the point of 120Hz display in phones or tablets if most content is filmed at 24Hz ?

I just don’t get why some people care about display refresh rate on smartphones; most content comes at 24 Hz or maybe at max 60Hz. Why is this a selling point?. If the phone refreshes the screen 2 to 5 times with the exact same image in it does it even make a difference except draining your battery.
