I see not just consumers, but even tech blogger who should know better make these common blunders.
"The new ipad (or insert other ios product here) outperforms even mid level intel based desktop computers!".
there's a deeper discussion to be had about comparing performance benchmarks across operating systems, but this goes even further.
You can NOT effectively use a benchmarking tool designed for an ARM device on a full x86 device. The results are garbage. You factually can not use it. it doesn't make sense.
it would be like comparing chrome to safari launch speeds, saying ____ launched faster therefore the operating system is faster.
Anybody who is at ALL in the technology field knows that geekbench scores a side, an x86 machine completely demolishes a similarly priced arm processor and can do a ton of things that the other cannot.
However the applications for an x86 machine are much heavier and more taxing than those designed for arm.
But they are that way by design. The full adobe suite is obviously more powerful than the photoshop app.
So please stop citing any geek bench scores when crossing not only operating systems, but entire instruction set architectures.
