Hey,
So, I’m a 38 year old, single guy, with a “dead end” job, that has never really known what he wanted to do with his life, and I recently realized that what truly makes me happy is when I’m traveling somewhere new, and meeting people, and going on adventures in places foreign to me. Unfortunately, because of the restricted vacation that I have in my current position, when I am able to travel, it’s only for one week (and only once a year). Because I can only travel for such a brief time, I find myself waiting all year, just to have that one week of adventure again, and I don’t want to live the rest of my life waiting for that one week that I get to travel, year after year.
I’ve decided that as the new decade is quickly approaching, I’m going to be making a career change. The only problem is I don’t really know where to start. All that I know is that I want to be able to work remotely from anywhere in the world. I want to be able to just pick up whenever I like, and live somewhere else for three months, if I so choose.
I was speaking to a coworker about this, and she suggested I look into schools, or programs, that can teach me how to do coding, or teach me cloud computing. This interests me very much, but I don’t know which schools, or programs, would be best, or frankly if coding/cloud computing is even the smartest route to take to achieve my goals.
I need advice. What direction would you point a person with no background in tech, that wants a job that will allow him to work remotely from anywhere in the world? What route would this person need to take, so that he has the best chance possible to obtain this job? Is coding/the cloud, the best option for me? Is there a place I can go to speak to an expert, or guidance counselor, about these things? Any help would be very much appreciated.
