Are there infrared sender-receiver devices capable of moving HDMI/DisplayPort data that also handle encoding and decoding?

Apologies if this isn't the right place to ask, but I didn't know of a more fitting subreddit to ask this in.

Basically, I'm looking for a solution that can be plugged in to a HDMI/DisplayPort out, encodes and sends the data as an infrared laser to the receiver, which decodes the beam back into a HDMI/DisplayPort signal which can then be directly connected to a receiving port of either type.

This isn't really a tech support question, and I'm mainly trying to think of a possible implementation for a hardware project.
