When people say they work in tech they're usually referring to Google, FB or smaller startups. Obviously firms whose product is mainly software are considered to be 'tech' but so, I assume, is Tesla. GM or BMW on the other hand aren't usually considered to be tech firms although they might invest as much in software these days.
So, what really defines a tech firm?
