Have you ever heard of brave browser? If not, I recommend you to have look on it. It is a new browser founded by Brendan Eich (founder of JavaScript and Mozilla Firefox) with a very interesting approach to pay its users for the data they provide to them. Something that google should have introduced already but they didn’t. More specifically it means, that you have the possibility to view ads and get 70% of the money the advertiser pays to brave yourself. You receive BAT tokens for any ad you view. BAT is a cryptocurrency, tradable on all major exchanges with a current USD price of around 20 cent. For me this is not only interesting because you can earn money from your data, it is also very interesting because BAT is a relatively young cryptocurrency with a big potential for the future. So there is a big possibility that the value of BAT will increase in the future, which means that your earned coins will be worth much more in a few years if you keep them. And because you start early, you will get much more BATs for an ad now than you’ll get in the future (because the payout per ad is calculated in USD, and BAT/USD is currently on a relatively low level). To those who think this is a scam I have to say, that brave is a very trustful company founded, as already mentioned, by Brendan Eich who is known for founding the programming language JavaScript and the popular browser Mozilla Firefox. Brave is also backed by a lot of famous investors and funds such as Founders Fund which is known for its billionaire owner Peter Thiel (co-founder of Paypal). Furthermore they are featured in many famous and popular newspapers such as the New York Times, Forbes etc.
What do you guys think, will brave cause a paradigm shift in how big tech companies will manage the data of its users and will brave be able to replace google as market leader?
