Gotta Weird Question and Didn't Know Who Else To Ask

Got a challenge for you guys and I have yet to find anyone who can help. I want to play the Sega Genesis Mini through my laptop; i.e. by using my laptop screen as a tv monitor. My acer laptop has an HDMI port.

Is this possible; and can I make it work?
