Would having side projects as a business individual be helpful like it would be for someone in tech?

Often engineers and computer science focused workers will have a bunch of side projects that they worked on to impress recruiters. They do this because they can make something from scratch with code. Designers often showcase their portfolio, but business individuals don't really have anything.

You could say case studies, but most business jobs don't have case studies (some do) as part of day to day operations. Would business individuals want to team up with people in tech and design side projects to add to their resume?
