Looking for advice: college path to a career in tech

Hello!

My question maybe very unusual for this place. But I thought people that have been working in tech would have the first hand insight for a career path that leads to a 17 year old’s dreams.

My daughter has following college/major choices:

A- UCD, UCI, Cal Poly - Applied Math

B- Boston University - computer engineering

She is still searching for her career path, but would be in following:

A- BS Math + animal science minor [goal: to find a way to solve problems in the animal world in a large scale. May or may not become a vet]

B- BS Math + CS minor [goal: entering Silicon Valley tech world and become an engineer, but with a math expertise]

C- BS Math, and go to grad school for a field [animal science or CS]

D- BS in computer science [become software engineer]

I am looking for input in following:

1- What’s your thoughts on these paths she is considering?

2- Do tech companies value/hire Math major graduates?

3- Among the 3 California schools, which one has the best reputation in applied math? (With a 4.37 UC GPA and a 35 ACT, that’s all she got ]

4- Have you ever worked with people graduated from these schools? Do you have opinion in the quality of education from these schools.

5- how important is it for math major to go to a graduate school and get a master degree?

6- We love cal poly campus, (visited today)however, the list of graduate schools the math major advanced to in recent years seem to be not very top notch. Is this an indication that math program there is not highly regarded?

Thanks in advance.
