What are some books about AI?
I am a beginner and wouldn't shy from saying that i have virtually no idea about AI. But I'm interested in the field and would like to transition into it someday from being a web/droid developer. What are some good books that give an overview of the A.I. field, such that it covers everything from Robotics to NLP etc?

VPN question not answered on the Mega-Thread
I understand how VPNs work. What I need to know is:
How does it work on a Firestick? Will I be able to watch cable channels not in my cable package (e.g.HBO or AMC)? How do I watch tv channels from around the world?
You might have to ELI5. Thanx for your help.

Where is crypto technology going? I guess it could be too early to tell.
I'll be the first to tell you that I'm not entirely up to par with crypto technology. However, I do understand the excitement behind a lot of this as well as the necessity to generate some form of income when investing a lot of time and resources into creating something of value.
But aside from the mining and the exchanging of assets, what are some of the other goals for these technologies in the general community outside of the current wheel of business and government?
Is this a field of innovation to see which crypto asset gains the most public support through providing the most sought after tools, services, or platforms that improve the lives of its users? Used to gauge global interest?
The reason I ask is because I'm beginning to see a lot of blockchain solutions being implemented for businesses. Many have also heard of the Libra Association looking to launch their own crypto asset in 2020 alongside their partners operating as validator nodes to their own blockchain.
In which case, is crypto technology or blockchain's greatest--perhaps only--contribution to society come solely from its ability to be trusted as a encrypted and decentralized data source when compared to a centralized one?

Hi people! Im new here, and i have a question that i cant find an answer to.
So recently when i talk to my mother on the phone she has said that she briefly hear someone else on the line for just a few seconds, she says they talk turkish or German maybe (we are from Norway)
And last week our network stopped working and the ISP says they are fixing it and sending a technician to come and check today, but i talked to him yesterday, and he mentioned something about "line theft" or "networkline theft"
What does this mean?

Steam is discontinuing official support for Ubuntu
Steam users that run Ubuntu may need to start thinking about alternatives to one or the other in the relatively near future.
Valve developer Pierre-Loup Griffais posted on Twitter that version 19.10 and up of Ubuntu will no longer be officially supported by Steam. Valve will also no longer recommend the world's most popular Linux distribution to its millions of users.
This move is likely due to Ubuntu soon discontinuing support for 32-bit applications, which Steam itself and, arguably more importantly, Wine, are. This compatibility removal will therefore remove support for Steam Play via Proton, software that has opened up opportunities for Linux users to play games previously exclusive to Windows operating system users on PC. Even if Valve were to create a 64-bit version of Steam itself to maintain compatibility with Ubuntu, the loss of Proton and Steam would result in a huge loss of potential library for Linux users, so much so that it arguably wouldn’t be worth it.
In any case, Valve’s gaming-focused Linux distribution SteamOS will remain supported and updated for the foreseeable future, and other Linux distributions that continue to support 32-but applications should be able to run Steam, Steam Play, and Proton just fine. In addition, the company is also "switch[ing] [its] focus" to an as-of-yet to be determined Linux distribution.

Wich (free) cloud service do you trust most at this moment?
This question is probably asked before but because things keep changing so fast and something that was safe yesterday can be hacked tomorrow. For me personally the reason I ask this question is because I'm looking for a safe way to keep all my devices in sync. I used to do this with dropbox long time ago but because I have been home for a long time I was just using my local network, now I'm more out again and dropbox doesn't seem that safe anymore. I was hoping someone on here knows how to possibly screw them up and make sure they can’t screw with me again. Someone who’s tech savvy please help. They’re IP is 188.51.186.62. If someone could maybe fuck them up for me that’d be great. Hit me back. Thanks :)

[discussion] Why is it that the hinges on convertible laptops are looser compared to traditional clamshell laptops?
I own a Yoga 730 and my friend owns a Hp Spectre 15, Both the hinges are much looser compared to the Surface Laptop and the Dell XPS 15 which many other people at my work use. Isn't this counterintuitive to the fact that the hinges on convertibles should be tighter since they'll be used in tent/stand mode? This is most annoying when I'm trying to use a stylus on my Yoga's screen in stand mode where the screen wobble is almost too much for anyone to think it's appropriate, especially when you factor in the jabbing and poking from fingers and pens. Why don't OEMs just make the hinges stiffer, like that of the Macbook pro? Maybe it's just me though, but yeah, title question feedback greatly appreciated!

Advice about how to hook up some sort of headset phone system that allows me to hear the phone and listen to a microphone connected to my phone.
First off I'm sorry if this isn't the right sub I just need advice about this.
I work in a customer service position that requires me to answer the phone and help customers in store as well. However I have auditory processing disorder which makes it really difficult to understand words when there is other noise around(even if it's other people having a normal volume conversation. Didn't realize this was abnormal till I mentioned my struggle to a doctor). My work is very understanding about it and said they can probably get approval for me to wear an assisted hearing device that blocks out background noise so long as I can help customers and answer the phone as well.
So my idea for this is essentially that I have a microphone that connects to my cell which allows people to talk into it and I can hear them speak, I also have noise canceling headphones that connect to my cell. I was wondering if there was some way I could get it to work so that I can hear both the land-line phone and input from the microphone at the same time? Also, it would have to allow me to disconnect easily for when another associate takes my place. If anyone could give me some suggestions that would be great and would make my job significantly easier.
It's quite late where I am so if anything wasnt clear let me know and I can clarify. Thanks!

IPFS-based storage and web hosting platform, the Shift Project, is running a public test of its new Phoenix cluster
💲The Shift Team will be instigating a reward program for those that set up a storage node and join the Phoenix testnet cluster. This will come in the form of 15 SHIFT distributed to qualifying participants every month.
In total, 9,000 SHIFT will be available for distribution during the first 3 months of the Shift v7.0t roll out.
Participation is easy.
Join our Discord channel, setup a Phoenix node, post a private message to our operations manager, Heisenberg#8320, containing the peerID (public key) and public IP address of your node, and then share the mainnet wallet address you'd like to use to receive your funds. We’ll be monitoring the online state of all nodes consistently in order to ensure suitable uptime.
The rules are simple. To have a valid claim to the 15 SHIFT/month reward:
✅ Uptime is measured from the 1st of each month.
✅ Max. 2 days downtime per month.
✅ Response time following the release of a new patch should be within 2 days.
✅ The first qualifying period begins next month on July 1st.
✅ Payments are sent on the 1st day of the following month.
💰 A onetime bonus of 1,000 SHIFT will be sent to a randomly selected node operator who has participated during the first qualifying month, with the prize paid on August 1st.
⚠️ These offers are not open to delegates currently forging on the Shift mainnet.

Question- Does anyone know where I can find or make really small gps trackers?
I constantly lose my phone around the house, and I want to be able to find it by using a remote or a website. I of course wouldn't be able to use an app if my phone is lost. I don't want to have a big keychain hanging from it or a giant metal device, do you guys know of anything I could do?

Currently, for the price, the S10e is better than OnePlus 7 pro
Seriously guys, Best buy is selling unlocked s10e's for $450 at the moment. I love OnePlus and I know it has its perks (cleaner faster software, killer display, etc.), but for the price, the s10e just seems like the better way to put use of your hard earned money. It's a whole $220 dollar difference from the 7pro's $670 price tag and offers a lot more.

Router recommendations
Hello, I would like some advice on some on buying a new Router. Price range up to $100
Alot of gaming is down on my Router that I currently have and I find it to be very unstable at random times. With 6+ devices using it at once = No Lag VS being home alone = Lag. Of course these aren't strict those, I lag when it's being heavily used and I dont lag when I'm the only user.
Im very curious about why this is. I've tried updating the router like some YouTube videos have suggest but it's all up to date. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Ps: sorry for wording I'm typing on my Phone.

Fruit picking robots to replace human workers in the near future?
Latest in Food Tech: Raspberry-picking robots are on the horizon
A new robot developed by Fieldwork Robotics uses machine learning techniques to identify “supermarket ripe” raspberries using sensors and cameras. The robot could pick nearly 25000 raspberries in a day, whereas humans can pick nearly 15000.
Moreover, the robot functions at an exceptional pace and can pick one raspberry every 10 seconds for 20 hours day.
In my opinion, this latest entrant in the food technology market is a big threat to human workers who can hardly match the pace and precision of this robotic fruit picker.

Purpose of the iPad Pro?
If Apple is trying to turn the iPad Pro into a laptop replacement, what's the point of buying a macbook? Is the only feature to set them apart now the keyboard and certain software such as final cut pro? A 13-inch ipad pro with 256 gb of storage costs $1150, which is steep already. At that point, why not just invest a couple hundred dollars more in a macbook (or any other premium ultrabook like an xps for that matter) to get the full package? I understand the appeal of regular ipad devices because they're much much cheaper (starting at $329 ), but notion of the iPad pro just doesn't click with me.

Power pack?
Hi, i’m doing a project with the raspberry pi which cannot be charged. I want something that can be easily carried around and have without being to heavy or having to many extra wires and such. I want it to be “charged” though, but can’t keep it continually connected or it won’t be portable and usable on the go. I was wondering if there was a power pack that functioned like a usb stick, where there are no wires or anything, you can just stick it in. If there isn’t a very small one could work too if I attached some things. Not sure if this is the perfect place to ask this but I was just wondering if anyone could help me out.

What are some nice and cheap thigns you can get from Aliexpress?
Phone storage help needed!
I'll flat out admit I'm not phone savvy, so I'm having trouble googling and getting the info that I'm looking for.
My phone storage is at 15.65 / 16GB. I don't want to get a new phone, so I'm wondering if I can get a new memory card, larger, and replace mine? If so, how do I get everything from my current card to a newer, bigger one?
I have deleted most of my apps and data, and cleared a ton of photos to make space, but my 'system data' takes up 8 of the 16 already so I'm struggling to delete enough. I have a Verizon LG K20V.
Any advice is appreciated so I don't have to get a new phone. I know I'm not tech savvy, so please break it down for me!

Apologies if this sub isnt fit for this type of question: I want to start setting up giveaways through my discord server. I want to be able to link it so the participant could get extra entries via following our twitter\youtube\twitch etc.
Another thing I would like is for the member to get an extra entry for boosting us via nitro (a new feature on discord) That last feature is almost certainly impossible yet as it just came out.
I know of "gleam" and that it can do most of what I want, but it seems to cost 10$ a month? is there any site or way to do it without having to pay?
any answer would be appreciated, thanks in advance ♥

Bluetooth 5.0 vs aptX for Phone + Laptop usage
I'm looking to buy my first pair of wireless earphones, to go along my POCOPHONE F1 and Lenovo Y530 Laptop. I've stopped on Anker Soundcore Spirit and Spirit Pro. The Spirit has BT 5.0 while the Spirit Pro has aptX.
My main concern is latency. I want't to use them both with my laptop AND phone to watch videos, movies, some games, conference calls, music in that order. Which means bad latency would be detrimental.
aptX claims to have superior sound quality and better latency due to efficient coding. But it won't be utilized on the laptop.
BT 5.0 claims better speeds and throughput and a bunch of other stuff but it's not clear how it affects latency.
I'm really torn on this. I have no real experience. Has anybody used them with a laptop? Sound quality will be a 100% improvement over the 6yo Sony earphones that came with my Xperia SP.
Those two models are pushing the ceiling of my budget but I'm willing to pay for them.

Noise canceling VS normal. And cables
Got arctis 3 headphones. Gonna start studying again.
Should those do at school or would you reccommend noice canceling. is that just a marketing term?
Also. I have an idiotic long cable with it. With a different plug for microphone and headphone. It also has a plug for normal headphones. Could i just buy a different cable?
And why doesn't the microphone not work with one plug?
(Usb like plug on one end and it splits into two at the end, I want to use one shorter normal audio cable)

[Request][Longshot?] Does anyone have a link to JP Morgan's 2017 An Investors Guide to A.I?
I am seeing this PDF referenced all over the internet in things I am reading, but the link seems to have gone dead some time in April 2018.
