Upgraded to 16gb ram, shows 8gb?

I'm not sure if there is a subreddit for tech help but I could not find one anyways:
I recently bought this set of ram off of newegg (Link: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232181?Item=N82E16820232181 )
I just switched it out and I booted up my pc just to see it say 8gb of ram installed.
My pc came with 8GB preinstalled ram as its a prebuild pc from best buy i think
I may have just not fully installed one stick as my pc has 2 ram slots.
I really need help as I paid 75 $ for this and I'm not very good with technology
