Used an iOS third party PDF compressor. Did not know it would upload the file

Yesterday I needed to compress a PDF file. I jumped onto the Apple App Store to find one. I found one that rated well so downloaded it. I was under the impression that it was an offline tool as no where did the description mention the file would be uploaded. But it wasn’t an offline tool and it uploaded a sensitive document that has compromised my and my wife’s privacy. Once it started to upload I was unable to stop it (the action was very quick).

I’ve spent hours with Apple support as there is no way to directly contact the developer who is situated in Vietnam (support email does not work, only website they have gives a basic description of the app). The PDF compressor has been on the App Store for about a year and they have a number of other apps on there. I have had to resort to setting up identity and credit tracking for both of us and submitted written reports to Apple security to review the app in question.

Besides the fact that the data is now on their server somewhere, does anyone have any advice with regards to pursuing this further with Apple, and any other suggestions we can put in place to monitor if our details get exploited internationally?

TIA
