The 2011 movie "Real Steal" about boxing robots takes place in the year 2020. We obviously didn't get to that point tech-wise, but it got me wodering. How far has tech advanced in the last 9 years anyways?

It doesn't feel like things are all that different from 2011 in terms of everyday tech. Sure everything is faster now, but we still had smartphones, tablets, and HD graphics back then. I do realize that things are different, but can someone spell it out for me exactly how far we've come since then?
