I used to be a bit of an MS enthusiast. I'm not a big fan of Apple products because of their lack of applicability to professional engineering and modeling software, so I've been pretty stacked up with MS products the last couple years. I have a Surface Book, Surface Headphones, and pretty much every surface accessory there is. I've had my SB for about 4.5 years now ( 500 GB HD, 16 GB RAM, performance base ), it's a high-end model.
Over the last couple weeks, I've noticed that the laptop won't close all the way. I realized the other day that the screen is actually bulging about a half-inch and preventing the SB from closing. Turns out this is a very common issue and potentially leading to a class-action lawsuit against MS. Now, this laptop was $3500 new, and there's no possibility it will last another 6 months without exploding or burning my house down. This is an extraordinary kick in the balls, considering my parents piece of shit $350 Acer laptop from Walmart is still running strong after 8 years of never being unplugged! (my parents are old).
On top of that, the other day my surface headphones broke in half when I ever so fucking gently removed them from my melon. Boom! snapped in half - $400 headphones down the drain... Looking at the inside of the headphones, MS built them entirely out of plastic that is less than 1/8" thick. My fucking $60 pair of headphones off Amazon have metal components.
So, here I am, with about $4000 worth of tech that no longer works, after a relatively short period of time. Turns out I can get the SB fixed for $600, so that's the best option, but the headphones were really the icing on the bullshit-cake for me. I'm just finishing a masters in geology and a bachelors in geology/geological engineering, and probably have a good 40-year career ahead of me - never will I buy another MS product (besides the operating systems) ever again.
Fuck you, Microsoft.
