My pc shut off suddenly when the battery is not yet 20% without a notice and it's worrying me

Like before I used to get warned to plug in the charger but now it suddenly happen and when I plug it and turn it on it says it's 0%, lots of my work get lost because of this, if anyone knows how to fix it or what could be wrong or what am I doing wrong, also I don't have an antivirus, would that be the issue, if so which free antivirus software to use.
