Ar technology - how will it improve and become main stream?

I'm really interested in ar technology and was wondering what everyone else thinks. We have one form of ar tech that allows us to see through portals, or having our bitmojii placed on the ground in Snapchat and stuff, and that's cool I guess. But what I'm REALLY interested in is ar glasses. We're in them you can interact with your messages, you can see your Destination in front of you or when playing Pokemon you can see the running around. How far are we really from that kind off tech?

My Samsung Note 5's screen turns black for a few seconds

Whenever I open an app, or got to a new part of the app (like opening messages in instagram) my screen sometimes goes black for a few seconds.

My phone does this whether I have only one or 5 app(s) open at a time but, my phone is pretty full on storage

I think it's mainly a hardware issue, rather than a software one (because I have my CPU performance shown (so it still shows when a game takes a while to load)

Do anyone of you know how this might be occurring or how to fix it?

I know Privacy is a sentient topic to Americans which I fully respect, but I thought I'd like to get a little insight into that topic. Im talking about its relation with tech. I am an Apple user and I've seen Companies like Apple try to push that privacy should be a fundamental right stance. But I would like to know why is privacy so important to Americans ? are there people who have their hands on our data ? Why do you fear them owning our data, isn't it just for targeted adds. what would they do with our data ? how could it harm me , I live in a hut in a village in India and naturally privacy is barely a topic over here . Using microwaves to see through walls isn't new but this technology is becoming more apparent to the public and is very interesting. The company Camero has a product line 'Xaver' which is in use for counter terrorist use to see through walls using 2D and 3D radar. Google home mini "cannot connect"

Like many of us, I got my google home mini from spotify. I mainly use it as a speaker, but I realized I can't take it to other places and just set it up, it can't connect 80% of the time.

Anyways, I think the idea of "Google home" is its not supposed to be carried around like a speaker haha, but if you're like me and don't have all these devices connected to it, the solution is easy.

Bottom of the unit is a button with an imprinted circle. That's the factory reset button. Hold it for 15 seconds, re-open google home and be on WiFi (It even connects to my hotspot). Then do the 30 second setup again and you're ready to play music.

SoftBank is reportedly committing $40 billion for its second mega fund

Japanese conglomerate SoftBank is expected to invest $40 billion into its second tech-focused mega fund, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday evening.

Can my employer see Google Chrome Incognito history using company’s WiFi on iPhone?

I was at home and was surfing the Internet on my phone using Google Chrome Incógnito. I forgot to exit out of those sites and the next day went to work. When I get to work it automatically logs into the company’s WiFi. I never went into Chrome Incognito to access or open those websites at work. The question is, will my employer still be able to see that web history?

Google pixel 3a crack

So about 20 minutes ago I was doing my business when I dropped my phone on my foot. It landed partially on my foot and partially on the ground and I has a crack stretching straight across the left corner of my screen. It spans roughly from an inch above the left corner to an inch right of the left corner ( kinda like the hypotenuse of an acute triangle). There is no damage to the functionality of the phone. My only vexation is that the crack is visible and I can feel an edge when I run my fingers over it. Should I bother with the warranty? Should I apply a screen protector? Perhaps a new case?

Wifi randomly disconnects on laptop alone

Wireless on my laptop (Lenovo G70-80, Windows 10) randomly disconnects, and then few seconds later reconnects. I am not 100% sure but maybe it gets worse when I try to download large packages (200mb file or if I open YouTube video). Or maybe it's just more noticable then. But it's random, and it could happen a dozen times in two minutes, and not a single time in an hour. 

1. I think this started when I received new router (ZTE ZXDSL 931VII).  However.. there is no problem when I use my (android) mobile phone. Wireless loss is only on the laptop.

2. I updated drivers. Didn't help. Didn't think it would anyway.  I set the channel to 9, which is not used by any nearby routers (and neither are adjacent 8 and 10 channels). No effect. Also tried switching from Mixed to whatever is the newest one. No change.

3. Signal of wireless is excellent (until disconnect happens, then it shows a drop for a while until it reconnets). Everything is fine. Physical wires between router and a phone line might be a bit problematic, but everything else works fine but laptop wireless.

I'm out of ideas so please help. It's really annoying especially since Chrome freezes every time disconnect happens. 

Adapter is Qualcomm Atheros AR956x.

PS: I tried disabling "Allow computer to turn off this device to save power" but to no avail.

Youtube causes annoying lag in online games

Hey guys! Whenever I play online ,when someone on my internet starts streaming youtube or even twitch ,Lagging starts right away, and I can not do anything . My download speed is 6MB/s and my upload is ~1.5MB/s ,so there should not be a bandwith problem. When I google it I mostly find answers like " internet isnt fast enough " but its not the case. When I check it ,my YouTube uses like 500kB/s and thats a very small piece of that 6000kB/s ,so what is the problem guys? (Yeah Im on cable and not wifi) thanks for reading <3

1. 1kwth PV and vacuum tube collector provide the same per day but tube is x2.5 cheaper
2. you can utilize up to 90% energy from the tube with water storage and you can have safe storage, like underground one in the backyard
3. 2018 LCOE of rooftop is $150/Mwt, so it is just hidden form of energy poverty for whole system, you just becoming grid company boyfriend and "provider", it is form of cheating
4. invertor and heat pump does not have 20years warranty and CAPEX becoming too big for the masses anyway.

Modern day 'Tech TV'?

I was lamenting yesterday about my yearning for the days of the 'tech boom'. For me, '99-09 was a really great technology experience, but especially until about 2004. With ZDTV/TechTV there was always something interesting to watch, Battle Bots was a thing and aired on cable, LAN parties were booming, message board/forums were home to some epic discussion, pioneering our way through the early days of case modding and soft modding (desktop/OS), MMOs were the social norm (sigh, Everquest...), and we were getting movies like Hackers, Antitrust, etc...

I know we still have TWiT as an entitiy, but with the death of TNSS (and also TekThing), they only have a few shows that really capture my interest. I was wondering, are there any other "networks" out there for tech shows? Are there any good YT channels (not Linus) that cover a moderately-broad spectrum?

Windows Defender vs Bitdefender

Turn on switch broke on my wireless headphones

I accidentally dropped my new bluetooth headphones and now they won't turn on. I opened it up and turn on switch is damaged, headphones still turn on and work fine if I touch inside of power switch with a screwdriver. Looking for private repository to store private information

Title.

I want to host the solution on a private server, to have an easy editor (standard wysiwyg is great) and it has to be reaponsive (for mobile).

I've tried Media Wiki but couldn't get Visual Editor to work (issues with parsoid connection) so I am looking for other solution for this.

Captchas being weird

I didn't know where to ask for help about this, so I'll start here.

On any site that I need to do a captcha it looks like this.
This started happening out of nowhere and because of it I can't login anywhere.
I use Opera GX but I've tried Google Chrome, Firefox and normal Opera with no luck. The only one that "works" is Tor, but the captcha won't stop giving me new "levels" there.

Any help would be hugely appreciated, thank you!

Would my webcam heat up if a hacker was using it

Hi,

I have an external web cam that gets decently warm when in use as well as a little light. I was never that paranoid about hackers watching me, so I was never the type of person to put a piece of tape over my webcam, but I was wondering. I assume that a hacker could disable the light on it, but is there a way they could reduce the heat output? Maybe by only recording in 240p or something?

Sorry for the strange question, I can elaborate if I was not clear.

Steam isn't opening.

So I had this problem a month ago and i never fixed it. I would like to get back into steam, but I get this message now. I am on mac, so that may be a problem.

When i click on steam, it jumps up and down, then closes and leaves this message:

"Steam requires that '/Users/crazysniper3000/Library/ApplicationSupport/Steam/Steam.AppBundle/Steam/Contents/MacOS' be on a case-insensitive file system. I am on a case sensitive, journaled. there's no way to change that? or is there. Ive tried reinstalling steam and it still doesn't work.

I want to buy a gaming laptop. It should run low requirement games like world of warcraft, league of legends, and maybe some newer games on medium graphics. But whats more important to me, is that it should run these things with a second monitor connected. I've had issues in the past where my game would run smoothly but lag when i connect a second monitor...

What specs am i aiming for and whats the price-range if you had to guess?

Can someone maybe recommend a laptop for this purpose or a good webiste to look for one? It should be able to be delivered to middle-europe, where i live.

Lost all credits to a phone call

To give a bit of a backstory: Earlier today I got a phone call from an unknown number calling from London, I picked up for 1 second and they hung up. I had quite a lot of credits enough to stay on the line for over an hour and all of it was gone.

7mm slim DVD cases

This is a question I've had for a while. Why did the 7mm slim DVD cases never take off? Out of all the DVDs I've seen the only movies I've personally seen in the slim cases are X-Men 2 and the Indiana Jones movies. Even the most recent DVD I have, Spiderman Homecoming, is in the old standard size DVD case, most of the other current stuff I have is Blu Ray. I'm just curious because these slim cases would've been great for collections, think about how many movies and PS2 games you have. It just seems odd that these didn't really take off.

ok so, im buying a Qled 4K TV soon, i was told by friend that the smaller the screen the better the image, say for example a 43 inch has more pixels than a 55 inch, is that true? because i thought it would be the case if it was a 1080p TV.

Duckduckgo is growing like crazy. During 2018 it went from a daily average of 21 million searches to 31 million searches, and currently in 2019 its at almost 40 million daily searches. We are only in July and it would be fair to expect a bit over 50 million daily searches before the end of the year. More stats here:

Duckduckgo doesnt record your search history and doesnt filter your results. This should be normal on the web. But somehow we have gotten used to that every search is now recorded by Google, and every website you visit is also stored with them. To me, this is abnormal. Why should a giant american ad company be able to store records of billions of peoples private and personal web searches?

I think we basically just got used to it and figured its too hard to avoid getting tracked. But today there are really good alternatives and Duckduckgo is worth checking out. Try it as your default search engine for a couple of weeks. Its easy and now your searches are no longer tracked by Google.

XPS 15 7590 or 9570

I want a new laptop and the xps 9570 is on sale ane I can get it with the NVIDIA card for $1,300. On the other hand, I can get the brand new 2019 version for $1,100 but without the card. The only reason I'd even want the card is for games but honestly I have a ps4 so that may not even be neccessary as Dells aren't really gaming devices and I don't want to spend $1,600 to get the 2019 one with the NVIDIA. Any suggestions?

Monitor failure? Please help.

Hey guys!

I noticed that at every color except white you can see square shapes on my monitor. My question is could that be a monitor faulire, like pixel error or panel error? Any ideas what did it cause? I bought it brand new 1 year ago.
