I'm going to be starting my first semester of college in the fall and I don't think I'm going to be taking my desktop PC with me for distraction reasons. I want to get an e-notetaker and a laptop. I am torn between going with the paired Apple devices or with the remarkable 2 and a windows laptop. I know the advantages of having Apple would be the compatibility between the two devices and especially with my iPhone 11 (Airdrop of course and I think there's this new cool extra screen feature you can do with the IPad and a MacBook?). I don't think I will like taking notes on the IPad Pro because of the screen type and I wish I could feel what it's like writing on a Remarkable 2. I like the remarkable because it's so pencil-paper-like and I won't get distracted while using it. Can someone please help me decide???

Please help! Urgently! I just bought a new Asus Rog Strix III. I dont have access to any other computer now but I have a pen drive with a windows 10 iso in it by using Rufus. The laptop didnt come with an OS, so I tried installing it from the pen drive. It didn't work. The pc doesnt recognize the pen drive. I try to go to the boot menu in the bios but it says "The system cannot find any bootable devices". Secure Boot is disabled. Fast Boot is disabled. Legacy Boot Support is Enabled. Asus EZ Flash 3 Utility doesnt recognize anything, not even my Krom mouse. Though the mouse works in any USB port. Please help. What can I do to install windows using a USB?

My question is mostly driven by my interest in the new iPhone SE. I know that one of the big draws to the phone is the guaranteed 5 years of updates. However, I also know that the phone doesn't support the new 5G networks. So, basically what I'm wondering is, will that 5 years of updates even matter, because the phone might be rendered obsolete in 3 years because it can't connect to 5G? Or, is that concern much farther off? This question can also be more general and apply to android and any other phones as well, if that's what the sub requires.

I don't want to ban, but would like to know if any possible illegal tor etc traffic is going through our family router.
I was thinking about installing Bind DNS but I would really like a live GUI of what is being requested.
I don't want to inspect packets just to know domains and IPs.

But for stuff like, My Personal lists (checklist, wishlist, short Ideas, other lists) I use Text file. But at the same time I can also use Word Document for them & format in Headlines, Bold.

I have a Petcube Bites and Petcube Play. I used to be able to download any videos that were in my feed (4 hour history with a free account). A few months ago, they started limiting how many videos you can download to maybe 5 with a free account and now, both devices won't even record video when detecting sound or motion with a free account. Is anyone else experiencing this?
How is it even legal for them to keep moving free services behind a paywall? At this rate, they will charge you to even look at it........
So i connected to my friends vc on server just like usual and some weird text to speech robot voice started to repeat everything what he said i was trying to figure out if i maybe turned something on in options but it didnt stop, unless in someone elses vc and he was not there. If i muted my mic text to speech voice would stop and i if i turned it on it would repeat after him. I was not scared not even little but suddenly tts voice started to speak we know we are watching we know where you live and even started to communicate with my friend and me in out mother tounge but he could not hear any of that. For instance if he said i dont understand tts would answer we understand everything. I formated my pc quickly. Does anyone have idea was this somekind of a prank virus that i got from clicking somewhere or what?

I have a 24" 1080p 144hz (AOC G2590FX) monitor that has freesync and I have it on so I'm used to it. I'm looking to buy a new monitor that is 32" 1440p 144hz WQHD, and I have one that I'm already looking for (Samsung C32JG50) since I saw it on a pretty nice sale. I really want a larger monitor like that which has a 1440p resolution. The downside to that monitor is that it does not have free sync available. I've heard that the difference on games with and without the freesync is really noticeable and you can see a big difference. So my question is that is it worth going for a bigger, curved and higher resolution monitor that does not have freesync, or should I just stay with my current one that I'm using freesync with?

I need help! I stupidly bought a display which only had DisplayPort and VGA socket even though my laptop only has a HDMI socket. How can I connect the two? Every time I search I only found the opposite problem with display only having HDMI... I am almost SICK and TIRED of all the other front line, IT Workers, and IT infrastructure support providers are continually overlooked, discounted and assumed to be taken for granted.....that also goes for the other overlooked segment of janitorial and sanitation workers; that clean up all the leftovers of the first responders, medical and added heroic efforts maintained by said same group of "frontline first responders" leave behind....
100% confident, that all the Dr's, Nurses, EMT's and such other healthcare / Police, Firefighters and other workers, which are getting 99% of the recognition; lunchtime pizza thank you; bonus "Channel" perks and discounts; If their devices, PC's, Laptops, Tablets, desktops and mobile devices stopped working, because there was no "frontline" IT person to fix it, on demand; that case would be a completely different story!
For one; I would like to see a collected effort to publicly acknowledge, thank, and otherwise offer some of the SAME "benefits" most of the larger companies are doing as a way to say THANK YOU... The simple and unsolicited "Thank you" goes a long way... and I would almost guarantee you, the next time your device or network has an issue; and you, as the person that took time to previously call out that single individual with a thanks or priase; your issue will take on a whole new mission and quickly get resolved... I really don’t know what else to do so I hope one of you can help. I’ve been having issues with my home WiFi for the past month or so now. It started which not being able to use google. I kept receiving and error about my dns not being correct. Just google.com, I could use chrome, and even other websites, so long as I entered it in manually. I could also use yahoo and bing as my search engines with no problem. If I tried to use data instead of WiFi everything would work fine though.
The problem started to “spread” with other websites not loading: Apple.com along with the AppStore and iTunes. Now today, I try to enter my connectivity settings on my PS4 after doing a soft reboot on my router and it won’t even connect to internet now. I receive an error which says: “A DNS server cannot be used. The DNS server did not respond within the time limit.” I tried inputting different public DNS codes all with no success. What is wrong with my WiFi? I tried calling Verizon (my home network) but they kept saying since some websites were loading, the issue couldn’t be on their end or else nothing would be loading.

This old creepy man is threatening to blackmail me with my IP. He sent me a bunch of numbers and he’s saying he can find the person who’s buying our internet stuff. He doesn’t know who or what email, but he said he sent him an email. He said “whenever an email is automatically sent, the sender has to provide a reason... and certain reasons will trigger various responses for various government agencies.”

Whenever I type "my" into Google Docs, it autocorrects to "mi". I have no idea why, and this only happens on Google Docs. I checked the personal dictionary on Google Docs and it didn't have anything with "my" or "mi" in it, so I don't know what it could be. I just want to fix it so that it stops autocorrecting— it's quite annoying haha!

So I received a check from my employer on the 10th of this month that was split up with a paycheck from the 2 weeks before (company paid us 50% of hours worked + up to 3 days of sick/vaca time in one check for March, and the other half was the one I got on the 10th). After the 5th is when I stopped earning compensation, anyways, when I was certifying for this week they asked if I received any bonus pay for the specified period of time and I selected yes because I wasn’t sure what or if I should report my check because they wrote ‘covid leave’ on the paycheck next to a $ amount and then added the $ of the sick time to that. I don’t know if leave pay is the same thing, but now my certification is still pending determination for a nonmon issue regarding bonus pay. I corresponded with them because they prompted me to add additional documentation on said pay, and the docs submissions have been processed it says but under the tab ‘determination status’ it still says in progress and open non monetary issue on another tab. I certified on Monday, submitted additional docs yesterday, but it’s still pending!
I should have close to $1,000 deposited by now but this bonus pay issue that was probably my mistake is just complicating everything.

I have been looking for a minimalist/well designed plug strip power board for some time.
Does anyone know of a power strip that has any (preferably all) of these features:
- braided cable
- individual switches and lights for each plug (preferably led hq lighting)
- metal enclosure or high quality plastic.
- don't really care about usb but any other useful features ect also welcome
does anyone else share my frustration in the lack of well designed power extension equipment?

So lately my hp notebook has been having troubles charging, like when it's off it charges just fine but when it's on I have to mess around with the charger cord to get it to start charging, I know it's not the charger cord either because I just bought a new one, so maybe it's the port but I don't know, so could someone please tell me whats wrong with it, thank you.
So a lot of people have very strong opinions on the s20 ultra. For me I think its fantastic. Am I gonna notice the performance difference between that and an s20? Probably not but I like the idea of having the option of having EVERYTHING even if it's expensive and there are phones like the oneplus 8 for much less. Im willing to spend the extra money to have something that has the the best that samsung has to offer. It's not for everyone however. If you are not a power user, honestly id just go with the s20 or s20+. I always think it's great to have options though. What do you think?

It’s widely accepted that cloud infra offers great benefits such as scalability in or out, agility etc. Some orgs adopt hybrid models due to regulation, control, privacy etc. Broadly cloud is configurable and depending on provider take up a range of services.
Eventually, within reason businesses will adopt some blend of cloud.
What’s next? - it is just a case of maintenance, taking up new services, optimising or changing providers and iterative development for automating business services and similarly for cloud providers too?

I have been tasked with copying photos from my mum’s phone to an external hard drive so she can clear it. At this point her phone is barely functioning. I have tried copying and pasting the photos from the DCIM folders to the hard drive, which worked for a few but now constantly runs into either errors ‘a device attached to the system is not functioning’ or ‘the device is unreachable’. The windows photos app either doesn’t not recognise the phone or just can’t import that number of photos. To my knowledge, with iTunes syncing I can get photos from the pc onto the iPhone but not vice versa, and I don’t want to risk erasing her photos. Is there anyways I can get that amount of photos across without giving either device a heart attack? Thanks
So I went on FB and noticed I couldn’t see my email and saw there was a black.devnull email pending. I def didn’t put that there. I added mine back, changed my password. Changed my phone and iCloud passcode, changed my Instagram bc when I went to add another account the hacker email automatically appeared in the box. I also am going to change my bank account password bc I have a banking app on my phone. Is this too far? I’ve never had this problem before. Sorry if it’s the wrong thread I just wanted quick advice

Charging tech seems to be going towards a trend of wireless charging and yet some manufacturers don't even want to switch to the new charging interface standard. What is the reason? Is it cheaper? Is it smaller?
My dad always finds out things my mom does after she talks about them out loud. He bought her the Alexa in her house and the computer. How can you tell if these things are bugged? (They live in separate houses)
I'm absolutely trash when it comes to phones, so I know nothing about this sort of things. Basically, I went to device maintenance, entered storage to see if there were any unnecessary files, and had quite a few amount of photos in the images section I didn't need. I ended up clicking useless screenshots to remove or something, and before you know it, I accidently click 'select all' and before you know it, everything's removed. For some reason, there were an a couple of photos that weren't included in the pile of 'extra, unnecessary data', that remained in my gallery.
I'm extremely sorry if this is the wrong sub, but at this point I'm really desperate.
What the hell do I do?! I'm literally a sobbing mess because those photos meant so much to me.

One of my gmail accounts was hacked and they deleted my personal information so that I can’t recover the account. I’ve already spoken with google support and they can’t do much about it. I have now put 2-factor authentication on my other email accounts, but regarding the hacked account - has anyone had this experience, and if so how did you recover your account?
